Why Ethos and why Maven?
Ethos is a Greek word meaning “character” that is used to describe the guiding beliefs or ideals that characterize a community, nation, or ideology.
Maven is a borrowing from the Yiddish meyvn ‘an expert, connoisseur’, derived from the Hebrew מבין mÄ“vÄ«n ‘person with understanding, teacher’, a participle of the verb הֵבִין hÄ“vÄ«n ‘to understand’, from the West Semitic root byn ‘to be separate, distinguish’.
EMC is, therefore a company distinguished with an idea or character of doing things with expertise and with understanding.
